Stone Imperial Russian Stout
Stone Brewing Co. of San Marcos, CA released its 2004 edition of Stone Imperial Russian Stout on June 14th.
Stone Brewing Co. founder Greg Koch says Stone's Imperial Russian Stout "offers depth and complexity that is worlds apart from other beers." In this case, Mr. Koch's hyperbole is warranted.
This is an exceptional stout, and a strong one, clocking in at 90 IBUs and 10.8% a.b.v. It is a black, oily, dangerous brew, redolent with malt aroma, and complex flavors of chocolate and coffee beans.
One taster said "It tastes like coffee that's been made too strong." Not too strong for me. It sits heavy in the glass, and radiates a sort of dark power. Highly recommended. Stone Imperial Russian Stout is available in 22oz bottles.
It is sold in CA, AZ, CO, OR, WA, AK, IN, KY, MA, NV, NM, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, VA and D.C.
